FAIREST is the spinoff monthly series- published by Vertigo/DC Comics- born from the very successful series FABLES, created by Bill Willingham.
FAIREST #8 is the first issue of the arc -The Hidden Kingdom- I've been working on for the last year. It hits the stores on October 3rd. It's written by the genuinely amazing Arthur C. Clarke award winner Lauren Beukes. With gorgeously cinematic colors by the ever talented Eva de la Cruz. Lettered by master Todd Klein. And covers by legendary Adam Hughes. I can't express in words how excited I am for this story to finally reach the readers.
The whole arc is six issues long (issues 8 to 13) and is full of fantastic elements from the Far East (present and past) and follows Rapunzel in a crazy quest to Japan. I got to draw so many cool things that I’m still shaking in excitement. I got to sink my teeth into today’s Japanese Pop culture, street fashion, Harajuku girls, the neon signs of Shibuya; as well as the Imperial mix of Japan and China, samurais, yokai, dragons… a real gift for any artist.
